It's a very dark time for online gaming right now...
As most of you know, ASUS recently released their new "cheating" drivers...which apparently support wireframe, which turns all walls, entities etc to a wireframe..so you can see where your enemies are. It also includes transparency..the walls turn transparent so you can see your enemy as well. I've seen it be used over the internet, and now at a little gaming center i like to go play at.
Now cheating will be (and is) at an all time high. These drivers are easily accessable, and who knows how many people have it. But i know this, for now, gaming won't be the same again. People are already using it in the ogl, and it is pretty impossible to detect, because it can be turned on and off with button pushing.
I think we're heading into a realm of crap cheating, and that this wont get fixed for a long, long time, or until some new games come out to try and block it. It is unbelievable that a gaming company would do such a thing as make a cheat like this; they say, "If you do not have an ASUS VGA card – be careful! Never compete in the 3D games with anyone who has an ASUS VGA card. "
This is unbelievable. How can this happen? We all of a sudden get a deathblow against the war against cheating, and now we have no hope to fight it. Since ASUS got negative feedback on this, they didn't include it in their 'regular' driver update, but instead put it in a 'Pro' version. Of course, this was for dev's, and it leaked, and has spread like wildfire over the internet.
So now, all of the jackasses over the internet can all cheat, and the fun of games that we play will lose their sparkle, because there will always be the guy with the ASUS card using it. I say we look to the "Gods" (LOL) for a solution...John Carmack of ID, and the boys at Vavle to hopefully lock it out of their games, but until then...
It'll be a sad time for online gaming.
