I know this isn't in any way gaming related (Off-topic! Must...ban...myself!), but I thought I'd spark up some conversation here, and get some of your guys' reactions and/or comments.

As you all may have heard by now, Napster was ruled against in court yesterday, and has been ordered to shut down its services by Friday, July 28. They have appealed, and there will be a hearing in court today to determine whether or not Napster can remain online during the appeal process. I would put a bunch of links relating to the RIAA vs. Napster lawsuit, but I'm sure you've read them all (or all that you've ever wanted to).

Personally, killing Napster really won't bother me. Losing it would just be a slight inconvienence in the finding of my precious MP3s (which, thanks to Napster, I probably won't be needing any more of for a while). I know there are some diehard Napster fans out there, and I would like to hear from you (and also from those of you that despise it!) about what you think about all of this.

Napster urges all of it's users (the "Napster Community") to check it's website continuiously to get the latest on the lawsuit, and what you can do to help. After hearing this, a thought sparked into my half-empty mind: What if Napster began to charge its users a monthly fee? Now this may not happen, but it's a good question for debate. Would you pay, say, $5 per month to use Napster (assuming most of the payment goes to the artists as royalty)? I don't really think I'd do that, considering that I only use it about once every 2 months.

Anyways, I'd like to hear from everyone about this! Post your comments! http://www.fr3nsyc.net/ubb/smile.gif

Good ridance. Not that I care what they were doing, just HOW they were doing it. The retards who made it brought this on themselves. What kind of retards take an illegal activity and try to make a mainstream business out of, besides those who aren't considered lobbiest of course http://www.fr3nsyc.net/ubb/smile.gif I for one am glad to see those retards go. I know it won't hurt anyone's dl's, cause people who were really into mp3s don't get them from napster anyways.

Yeah, Napster made it easy and very accessible but it was hard to find some of the stuff I like on there. I usually use mp3_metal on Undernet through mIRC. Sure, typing the @find blah blah to find songs and then having to type ![Persons name] [file] to get the DAMN THING is a pain in the ass, but it's worth it when you want that one special song. It's all pretty ridiculous anyways, all the idiots who oppose Napster really think they're making a huge contribution to stopping music piracy but they really arent doing a thing.

Good day for all you pro-Napster people. Napster won in its quest to keep the service alive during it's appeal process. I couldn't find out how long the service would be up, but I did hear that the RIAA has until August 8 to say something about it.

Just thought I'd update y'all that aren't in the know. http://www.fr3nsyc.net/ubb/smile.gif

Well...i got lots of songs from irc and napster. IRC is just more of a pain cause you got to find someone who has the song your looking for. Then, you have to wait for all the queues to finish before you start d.lin. and some people have like 50 queues waiting. (it gets even worse for movies). So im kinda sad napster might get shutdown...but then again i dont d.l many mp3s anymore.

Cypher, listen little boy, you shouldn't talk with such a potty mouth or your mommy is going to whoop you again. Then I'll do the job after she's done too.

Napster is dead, no court on earth would allow them to keep going. Called the law, they're breaking it and trying to do it in the open. Doesn't stop mp3s by any means, just stop the AOL of mp3s.

Once again cypher, stop running gay and animal porn off your computer.

What the users do on napster technically isn't unless they make bootleg cds and cell them. What Napster it self does is since they made napster a business and are trying to profit by distribute copyrighted material.

I just heard that Napster is going to stay open until September while the appeal is resolving in court. K bye.

Another thing, the only Napster servers that are being shut down are those owned by Napster. Usually, when you log onto Napster, most of the servers that you connect to are servers not owned by Napster.

So piss on the system and continue to download .mp3s by using a spiffy little program called Napigator (http://www.napigator.com). This program allows you to select which server to connect too. unF!
