its probably one of those stupid "sayings"/"figures of speech" that old poeple say so much, like Calling the kettle black or Walking on eggshells and of course chicken fried steak.

Chicken fried steak is the meal you get at any dinner across the US of A.

It is the official meal of the trucker and "I was working late again tonight darling" collar worker. It will taste more or less the same everywhere anywhere anytime. You will not want to look at what you are eating. That is what the offwhiteish pepper heavy sauce is for. Just cut off a chunk with your fork (A food designed to be eaten with no more than one utensil needed) and chew. Repeat untill you are full and sleepy. Then get back in your 18wheeler or Ford LandDestroyer and get back on the road.


Black diner coffee coffee is another subject, closely tied to diner pie. But that is for another thread. Preferably one that has nothing to do with food.

Ok.. here goes the story..

Chicken Fried Ostrich..

When I was enjoying a 10 day stint as a guest of Ol' Sheriff Joe we where served Chicken Fried Ostrich.. a breaded Ostrich pattie that had been fried.. good stuff.. Some one had donated the meat to the county and he used it feed the "Guests"

ostrich is quite tastey... they used to serve ostrich enchiladas here for the longest time.
