Ok guys, I've been gone for a while at an all-day lacrosse camp, but now I'm back. However, when I try to connect to ANY server, I get this "Connect failed after 4 Retries" message. I haven't done anything to Counterstrike or my computer for that matter since I've been away, but since Tuesday night I have connected only once. Can someone tell me all possible diagnosis so I can check them out as quickly as possible, and get back to dying!

Hi oddjob, if you wouldn't mind, please answer these questions:
1.) How are you connecting to the servers? (GameSpy, HL Multiplayer section, etc.)
2.) Before connecting to the server, do you ping it? What does it show up as?
3.) Are you sure you have the latest version of Counter-Strike? (Beta 6.6)
4.) Are you sure you have the latest version of Half-Life? (1.1.0.1)

Sure thing Jazzy
1) I use HL Internet games tab most of the time, I tried Gamyspy, but it did the same thing. Also note that it's not just fr3 servers that I can't connect to, it's all of 'em.
2) Nope, don't know how.
3) yes
4) yes
Keep in mind that I've been playing for a long time with no problems untill just recently, when it tries to connect to a server and it failes after 4 retries. HELP ME JAZZY!!

Yea 56k..I use a local ISP that has given me no problems for a year. As I was playing Playstation I thought of a few more things that I thought seemed..well odd.
1) Everything use inter-net related works fine. That includes AOL, Explorer, ICQ, etc.
2) Whenever I click on a server to join, as it says "connecting to server <blah>," it will do a WON Authintication process. Ever since I can't connect, that WON Auth. Process has not been coming up.

That happened to me once, and I had to reload HL to fix it. Don't know why... but it worked.
Good luck!
