Okay....this is more of a technical question here. Some of you may know that I have gotten a new GeForce2 GTS (Elsa GLADIAC 32mb to be more accurate) video card, and I have noticed that my framerates have not been that much improved in my games from my old TNT2.

So, I was wondering what I could do to improve my framerates. I have the latest NVidia reference drivers for my card since I was using Elsa's before. In some cases, I actually noted that frames dropped when I changed drivers (Tribes for example). I mean my frames are all right, but games like Deus Ex and others are still about the same, with say only a few frames per second increment. Such little improvement has gotten me kind of mad...so I was wondering; what can I possibly do to get more frames? I do seem to get pretty good frames at Counter Strike and Half life (45 fps running at 1128 by whatever). But games like Deus Ex often slow to a measly 10 fps or some unbearable number. I tried OpenGL mode..It is a _little_ bit better, but there are problems with the models (weird coloers on them) and it gets kind of annoying...It's not like I run my games at insane resolutions, usually the mode above 640by 480 (dont know if thats the exact #..). I have P3 500, 128 MB of ram, and I'm running ME...

Any suggestions?

Yeah...OpenGL is faster in Deus Ex..but like a said, i get these odd colors on my models.

You said try a lower texture resolution...whats the command in HL for that?

the reason deus ex runs slowly is because its based on the unreal engine. when unreal came out, they optimized the engine for glide, because it was supposedly going to be the "next thing." glide pretty much only runs well on 3dfx cards... so anyone without a 3dfx cards that run games based on unreal engine are kinda screwed as opengl isnt natural to it.
