Ok, I tried it this morning - and found that is is an interesting concept. One thing that stood out: re-spawning again. I have gotten so used to not being able to do that. I'm still not sure if I like it....

My base impression: This is like deathmatch Counter Strike in one sense and a gussied up TFC in another.

Graphics work well, and GameSpy supports it. I was able to find several sub 50 pings for these servers. Thank heavens there is no FF on in this one, as you would be soooo tk'd all the time.

Maps seem well conceived, and there are interesting variations. I kept thinking, "this one would be cool in CS".
One major problem seems to be that even with gamma turned way up, it's still too dark to differentiate between rebels and defenders on some maps.

The ability to gain health as long as you stay close to team mates is pretty novel. And it's interesting how you can gain accuracy in aiming the more of your team is near you as well. This mod is not for those who lone wolf it.

I intend to play it some more and see what the evening players have to offer compared with the early morning folk.... sort of like CS on our servers - the early folk are mostly modem newbies trying to learn how to play the game while a few 'sharks' swim through the waters eating them up.

Not sure if I totally like it or not, at this point.

I played it on Saturday for a few hours. It is very beta indeed. Players wiggle not walk. It gave me a whole new respect for the models in CS. It takes 500 shots to kill someone. It was fun but not a good substitute for cs.

I also played over the weekend...
Got thru one game where I shot some guy with about 60 rounds from an M60... He didnt die..


He glocked me twice and I died...

Very Beta One'ish but a nice concept that I will try again when beta 1.00001 comes out...

Oh, game also locked up HalfLife and threw me to desktop... Every time I tried to go back into it I would get a message "No TCP/IP network found"...

Same problem here Hick...I've asked around the servers..seems some other people have been having the same problem!

As for the mod..I've been anticipating this for a while...very beta'ish, but one thing that really annoyes me is their accuracy system...

Sure it gets better with team mates around, it's still way out of whack... As a recon I couldn't even shoot accurately when crouched and not zoomed in... plus, when running my first few shots fly ALL over the place...I know it's not based on reality...but come on, the guy can aim when running like a regular human somewhat; no?

Like geg...I don't know if I like it yet...

It's a cool concept with a few annoying flaws.

The game is pretty cool, ought to be fun at the LAN, but its annoying when you shoot someone with that French Spas 12 right in the FACE and blood goes all over the wall and his body can somehow function to continue fighting with you....hmmm...maybe a little unrealistic but fun none-the-less.
